2.
Is there
any difference between the Insurance provided to Society Referees, and
Non-Society Referees?
As
far as the Compulsory element of the insurance is concerned, there
is no difference between the covers provided at all.
However, Referees Societies have the option to purchase additional voluntary
cover for Death By Natural Causes and Loss of Earnings.
3.
In what circumstances would a referee not be insured?
Non-society referees will only receive Public Liability Cover and Accidental
Death
and Permanent Total Disability Cover whilst refereeing a match in which at least
one of the participating teams has taken the Compulsory Playing Insurance (or
Single Match cover).
Society referees are covered to referee any game, although
the referee may jeopardise this cover if he/she acts outside of the RFU rules
and regulations that apply.
4. What cover do Coaches receive?
Coaches receive Public
Liability cover of £5m and Accidental Death and Permanent Total Disability cover
as per the above table. However, this is only provided if they are acting under
the auspices of an affiliated club or the RFU.
5. What cover do Assessors receive?
As members of a referee’s
society, Assessors receive Public Liability Insurance at £5m.
In addition Assessors receive cover under the Compulsory
Playing Insurance for the full Accident Death and Permanent Total Disability
benefits (see table above). In the case of Assessors this cover operates from
departure until subsequent return provided travel is direct.
6. What cover do Referees Society committee members receive?
Committee Members of
Referees Societies receive both Public Liability Insurance at £5m and Directors
and Officers Liability insurance.
